Chick Flick Must See

Ok Girls, Every few years we need a new chick flick movie to watch. "P.S. I love You" rises to the challenge. It's comprable to such chick flicks as "Serendipity, The Notebook, and Fried Green Tomatoes with it's funny characters, unbelievable but believable story lines and good old fashion ball your eyes out moments. You'll laugh out-loud, cry silently, and smile often. This unusual love story about moving on is a must see.

Going to the movies

Kathy, Crissy, and I went to see Mama Mia at the movies on Wed. If you are an ABBA fan you will love this movie. We all liked the movie a lot. Lots of singing and beautiful sets. My favs were Dancing Queen and Voulez Vouz. It is a must see for us chicks, but I recommend taking a friend.

Good Luck Chuck

Kathy and I watched "Good Luck Chuck" last night. It was very funny, charming, and sweet all in one. Not a movie for the kiddies since there is a lot of nudity, but fun for the adults. The story is about Chuck who has a hex put on him that no woman willl ever fall in love with him, but the next man they meet will be the man of their dreams. The rumor spreads rapidly when he is older and woman are lining up at his door to sleep with him in hopes of finding true love. Chuck takes advantage of this for awhile until he meets Cam played by Jessica Alba. From there on the story takes a dramatic turn for love and is filled with Alba's physical comedy. All in all I thought it was great fun and had me laughing out loud.

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides

I finished this book Thursday evening.  I have to say, it was long, nearly 550 pages.  Some phases of the book were really good, others were a little far fetched...  the ending left me feeling like something was missing, it did come to closure, but.....

So, it is an epic novel, spans three generations of family.   The historical descriptions and references were very interesting, I wonder how accurate they are.  I'd be happy to pass this one along if you want to read it.

I don't know if anyone has ready any books by Janet Evonovich but she writes about this female bounty hunter named Stephanie Plum and they are absolutely hilarious. I have read numbers 1-13 I am to cheap to buy the hard back copy of number 14 but let me tell you, I couldn't put an of them down they were fantastic!! I recommend all of them so far definite easy read to for people who don't have a whole lot of time.

Stardust

Need a break from reality? An all-star cast leads this romp into a world where falling stars are beautiful women and everyone wants a piece of them. Somewhere between a chick flick and a family movie (PG-13 for fantasy violence), this is a must see if for no other reason than to watch Robert DiNiro play a cross-dressing sea captain. And for our vanity...Michelle Pheiffer actually aging! Part love story, adventure and comedy with a true happy ending, we were pleastantly surprised by this one.

the good witch

i watched a hallmark movie called the good witch this weekend. the show kind of reminded me of the old bewitched series. i think they make it into a series and i will definately watch it. the girl was the one from JAG, her name is Katharine Bell.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry

I have loved Adam Sandler for years!!! Kevin James is awesome, I used to watch King of Queens just to see what he would do and say. We watched I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry last Friday night and we laughed our freakin' asses off at this one... right from the beginning til the bloody end!!!! I totally recommend this..
I give it five beers! I would have given it a six pack, but you know what happens when there is beer around, it starts disappearing.

*pics make me happy :)

Heath Ledger passes away

Heath Ledger found dead in NYC at age 28
Associated Press

NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan apartment, naked in bed with sleeping pills nearby, police said. The Australian-born actor was 28. It wasn't immediately clear if Ledger had committed suicide.

Too bad...he was such a cutie, and also very talented. It took a lot of guts for him to take on the roles that he did and I think that there is a decided lack of balls in Hollywood today.

Introduction

I think Jo's probably got her hands full so I'm gonna give this blog admin thing a whirl. I think every porch full of talking folks like us probably has more than one conversation goin' on at a time. This one's for books, movies, games, entertainment news, TV shows, etc. We've all watched a movie before and said "Huh, that's two hours of my life that I'll never get back..." or laughed at a book until we've darn near wet ourselves. Ok, maybe we actually did wet ourselves, but you don't have to admit that unless you want to. Anyway, please share your opinions, and if nothing else we will have another way of learning more about each other.
